Shift Bonus Rate Increase
COTAPSA is pleased to advise our Members that we were able to secure a Shift Bonus rate increase and retroactive payments effective immediately.
As you know, COTAPSA meets monthly with City Human Resources staff regarding Members’ terms and conditions of employment, and also to discuss City policies and practices.
Recently, COTAPSA has discussed with City Human Resources staff the Shift Bonus Policy, in particular, the shift bonus rate and having parity with the bargaining units. The Shift Bonus is an amount paid in addition to an employee’s standard hourly rate to compensate employees who work other than regular daytime hours. The Shift Bonus is paid for hours of work performed that are not compensated by other types of premium or bonus pay such as overtime, standby or call-in pay.
There has been no change to the City Shift Bonus Policy since November 15, 2005.
City staff confirmed that the Shift Bonus rate for non-union employees has not been adjusted since 2008. A rate adjustment will be implemented immediately to match what was negotiated by the bargaining units, and employees will receive retroactive payments where applicable.
COTAPSA continues to monitor the City policies and practices to ensure fairness and equity for our Members.
